According to the datasheet 2N4401 is a general purpose NPN switching transistor that features high currents (up to 600mA) and low voltages up to 40V. It is used in industrial and consumer switching applications. It is available in TO-92; SOT54 plastic package.2N4401 PNP complement is 2N4403.
